Newton, MA — Stockade FC completes a 2-goal comeback on the road at Valeo FC to earn a point and remain unbeaten.
A slow start for Stockade FC saw an early hole as Valeo struck twice in the first 10 minutes to jump to a 2-0 advantage. An early set piece for Valeo created a well struck header to open the scoring in the 6th minute. The opener for Valeo would be the first time Stockade has trailed in 2021.
Valeo would double their advantage only 3 minutes later as a left footed strike from 20 yards out would beat a diving Dylan McDermott (Marist).
Stockade FC would begin to create chances towards the end of the first half as strikes from Scott Zobre, Hugo Guerra (URI) and Vinny Colantuono nearly cut the deficit.
Ultimately, the needed spark would come from the bench. Richard Morris, Petro Klishch (Elon), Brandon Davenport (New Paltz), Kevin Doorley (New Paltz), Joe Kresse (Manhattanville) and Nick Fernandes (Siena) would begin to put Stockade FC on the front foot.
In the 80th minute, Stockade FC would break through and halve the Valeo lead as Klishch found space in the box to slam home the lifeline. Doorley and Fernandes would supply the pass that created the opportunity.
5 minutes later, Stockade FC would find the equalizer! Richard Morris found the perfect space to finish a stunning driven cross from Klishch. The equalizer cued a massive team celebration on the sideline and earned a road point for unbeaten Stockade FC.
Stockade FC moves to 4-0-4 (W-L-T) and remains in sole possession of first place in the North Atlantic Conference.
The boys return to Kingston next weekend, July 3rd, when Rough Diamonds head to town for a 5PM kickoff at Dietz Stadium.
