Albany, NY — Iyare Harris scored in the final minutes of the match to earn a hard fought roar draw with New York Shockers on Saturday night, 2-2.
Stockade FC opened the scoring in the first half as Demarre Montoute (Marist) finished off a skillful piece of team play. Nick Fernandes (Siena) played a quick free kick wide to Noah Robinson who was able to beat his man and swing in a cross for Montoute to thrash home.
In the first half, Stockade FC continued the pressure as Vinny Colantuono and Montoute both struck the woodwork.
After the midway break, Shockers would find an equalizer as James Beeston finished off a low cross into the center of the box.
Shockers would eventually take the lead late on as Adetayo Adefioye found space in the box in the 88th minute and finished past Lorenzo Nunez.
Stockade FC would not shy away in the final minutes. Reserves Petro Klishch (Elon) and Iyare Harris, would find one last opportunity. Albion Bacaj (Marist) stepped forward from his center back slot and the ball made its way to Klishch on the wing to strike on frame. Eventually, Klishch’s strike was saved but Harris was at the doorstep to thump the back of the net and pull off the late equalizer.
Stockade FC moves to 0-1-2 (W-L-T) and returns home to Dietz Stadium to welcome neighbors Cedar Stars for the first time on May 28 at 6PM.
