Albany, NY — Stockade FC used a first half header from Mike Corbi to secure all three points on the road in their 2023 NPSL season opener versus the New York Shockers.
In the 17th minute of play, Jared Juleau (Marist) whipped in a beautiful set piece from a corner kick that met the head of Mike Corbi to open the scoring.
From there, Stockade FC’s back line was lock down and surrendered few chances to secure the shutout, and road victory.
“Points on the road are always extremely difficult to come by,” said Head Coach Jamal Lis-Simmons. “To leave Albany with a big three points is a great start for us to build on as we add more of our college players into the fold.”
Dylan McDermott (Binghamton) recorded six saves on the evening.
The night featured Stockade FC debuts for Jared Juleau (Marist), Andrea Nguionza (Marist), Ryan Hilliard and Derek Jaramillo in starting roles. Modou Badjie (Plattsburgh) made his first team debut in reserve.
Stockade FC returns to action next Saturday, May 13 as the team travels to nearby Dutchess County for a 3:30PM friendly with Pathfinder FC of USL2. The next NPSL match for the club will take place on May 20 as Stockade travels to Valeo FC.
