Syracuse, NY— Stockade FC defeated Syracuse FC, 2-1 on Saturday night thanks to goals from Stefan Koroman and Mateo Marra.
Stockade would get on the scoresheet early on as Stefan Koroman scored his first goal for the club in 7th minute as he headed in a Jared Juleau set piece from the corner.
The first half would end with Stockade leading before Syracuse would add some pressure to start the second half.
In the 50th minute, Syracuse would find their equalizer after a sloppy giveaway at the back led to the chance.
Stockade FC would continue to press looking for a winner.
Just 9 minutes later, Stockade would restore the lead. Mateo Marra stepped up and converted a penalty kick for his first club goal and a 2-1 lead.
The final result would not come without drama as Syracuse was awarded a penalty of their own in the 72nd minute. Jaiden Pean dove to his left and made a massive save to preserve the lead, and the 3 points.
Stockade FC finishes the regular season at 7-1-2 (W-L-D) with 23 points (2.3 PPG) and will host the winner of Wednesday’s Conference playoff between Hartford City and New York Shockers.
