Poughkeepsie, NY — Stockade Fc’s hot start was not enough as Syracuse FC completed their comeback with a late dramatic goal at Tenney Stadium.
Stockade FC started fast for the first times this season, creating numerous chances in the early minutes. Finally, the breakthrough came as Andrea Nguionza started a slick team movements by spreading the ball wide to the right side. Bennett Leitner would run into space and beat his man down the line to whip in a perfect pass for Hugo Guerra to open the scoring in the 19th minute of play.
All the momentum of the hot start wouldn’t last until halftime as Syracuse would find the equalizer after 36 minutes.
The second half proved to be a back and forth affair, with the major chances coming the way of Stockade FC. Against the run of play, heartbreak would strike in the 88th minute as Syracuse took advantage of a set piece and struck a sweetly hit free kick into the Stockade net and stole all the points at Tenney.
Stockade FC falls to 0-3-1 (W-L-D) on the season and has a chance to turn around the slow start to the season with another home match on Friday, May 31st at New York Shockers visit Tenney for a 7PM kickoff.
